3D Printed Conformer and Formillion Set for Hat Making
This conformer and formillion set is made for hatters who want a better way to measure head shape and transfer that shape into their hat work.
A tape measure can tell you the circumference of someone’s head, but it does not show the full shape. Two people can measure the same size and still need very different fits. One may be more regular oval, another may be long oval, and another may have pressure points that only show up once the hat is worn.
The conformer helps capture the shape of the customer’s head. The formillion gives you a matching shape to work from when checking fit, adjusting a hat, or building toward a more accurate custom fit.
This set was designed as a practical option for small hatters, hobbyists, and makers who are building their shop one tool at a time. Original conformers and formillions can be expensive, hard to find, and out of reach when you are just getting started. This version is not trying to be an antique wood and brass tool. It is a modern working tool made to solve the same basic problem in a more accessible way.
Each set is 3D printed in PETG and made to order. PETG is used because it is tough, practical, and more heat resistant than many basic printing materials, which makes it a good choice for shop tools that may be handled regularly and used around steam, moisture, and felt work.
Required assembly hardware is included with the physical set. Hardware style and screw lengths may vary slightly as the design is adjusted or improved, but the set will include the hardware needed for normal assembly and use.
Because these are 3D printed tools, minor layer lines or surface texture may be visible. That is normal for printed shop tools and does not affect the function of the set. The important parts are the shape, movement, fit range, and ability to help capture and transfer head shape more accurately.
This set is a good option if you make custom hats, reshape customer hats, or want to improve fit beyond basic circumference sizing.
